Ultraviolet rays from the sun will NOT ONLY damage skin but can also create vision problems, allergic reactions, depressed immune systems, and skin concerns. It is vital to protect your skin and eyes from the damaging effect of the sun because exposure to ultraviolet radiation contributes to ageing skin and is the main cause of skin cancer. No matter what the weather, or what you are doing, cover up! especially between TEN a.m. and four p.m. Make sure your children are protected as well as yourself. Shade CAN BE a good source of protection, but keep in mind that shade structures such as trees, umbrellas, canopies do not offer complete sun protection. A hat with a wide brim offers good sun protection to your eyes, ears, face, and the back of your neck - areas particularly prone to overexposure to the sun. Wear Sunglasses that Block 99-100% of UV Radiation Sunglasses. THIS WILL greatly reduce sun exposure that can lead to cataracts and other eye damage. Always Use Sunscreen. liberally Apply a broad spectrum sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of at least 15 or higher on exposed skin. Reapply every 2 hours, or after working, swimming, playing, or exercising outdoors.
